Water for Botswana's Wildlife
African Guide Academy & Green Horizon
The African Guide Academy has created a rather important and noble project to provide the wildlife of the iconic Okavango Delta with water.
Help Botswana's Wildlife: Boreholes for Survival
Botswana faces one of its most severe droughts in recent memory, leaving wildlife in desperate need of assistance. Usual water sources have disappeared, and without intervention, many animals risk death or will migrate to areas with scarce resources. To mitigate this crisis, support is needed to install two extra boreholes in the iconic Okavango Delta, providing a lifeline for the animals. Your donations will enable us to ensure that vital water resources are accessible, especially as the likelihood of the anticipated flood diminishes.
Why It Matters
Botswana is caught in the midst of the worst drought seen in 65 years. The annual floods that sustain life through the dry season will not arrive this year, leaving thousands of elephants and other animals in a serious predicament. To address this, we need to divine and drill for water, construct heavy-duty defenses, and transport machinery deep into the delta. Without proper infrastructure, elephants could destroy the boreholes, negating weeks of effort and financial investment.
Project Goal: $20,000
Project Details
The funds will be used for:
-
Building boreholes
-
Installing solar panels
-
Adding batteries and inverters to run the boreholes at night
If the boreholes do not operate continuously, elephants may dig up the pipes and equipment, causing further damage.
This project is initiated by the African Guide Academy.
