Future projects
At Green Horizon, the Udumuka Reforestation Project was just the beginning. Based on our learnings, partnerships, and on-the-ground experience, we are preparing for large-scale reforestation and ecosystem restoration projects that will transform degraded landscapes, enhance biodiversity, and create lasting benefits for local communities.
Njombe Reforestation 5,000 hectares
A large-scale reforestation project planned for 2025/2026, focusing on restoring degraded forest land in the Njombe region.
Our Two-Step Approach:
Step 1: Establishing a Native Tree Nursery
The project begins with an on-site nursery developed in collaboration with local communities and partners, ensuring that only native tree seedlings specific to the Njombe ecosystem are grown.
Step 2: Reforestation
Once the seeds develop into seedlings, they will be planted in the project area as part of a carefully planned restoration process.
Project Highlights:
-
Scale up native tree planting to increase carbon sequestration and biodiversity.
-
Support local communities through employment and sustainable land management training.
-
Involve communities in all phases of the project, including nursery development, land preparation, planting, maintenance, monitoring, fire management, and long-term ecosystem care.
-
Generate high-integrity carbon & biodiversity credits, verified through OpenForestProtocol (OFP)
Iringa Landscape Restoration
150,000 hectares
A long-term initiative focused on restoring ecosystem functions and rewilding degraded land in collaboration with local villages, communities, and conservation partners.
Community-Led Restoration on Village-Owned Land:
-
Nurseries will be established to provide native seedlings for large-scale restoration and land restoration.
-
This project is closely developed with local communities to ensure sustainable land use and long-term conservation success.
-
The land being restored is village-owned, meaning that local communities directly benefit from reforestation efforts and revenue opportunities from ecosystem restoration.
Project Highlights:
-
Reintroduce native vegetation across a vast landscape, improving soil health and water retention.
-
Empower communities through agroforestry, permaculture training, and sustainable farming alternatives.
-
Enhance biodiversity, providing habitat for endangered species and stabilizing ecosystems.
-
Generate high-integrity carbon & biodiversity credits, verified through OpenForestProtocol (OFP).
Why Invest in Future Reforestation?
Green Horizon is committed to high-quality, community-led restoration efforts that create long-term ecological and economic benefits.
Our projects:
-
Are backed by scientific research to ensure resilience and long-term sustainability.
-
Utilize transparent, on-chain verification via OpenForestProtocol (OFP).
-
Provide measurable carbon, biodiversity, and socio-economic impact.
